FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Taneycomo Lake Cleanup needs Sponsors and Volunteers for September 13th Event
TLC for Taneycomo!
The 5th Annual Taneycomo Lake Cleanup is looking for sponsors and volunteers ready to pick up trash along the lake. Last year, two 30-yard dumpsters were filled and the plan is to fill both dumpsters again this year. All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt for helping out. Thanks to title sponsors, Empire District Electric Company, the City of Branson, Cooper Creek Resort & Campground, Dixie Stampede, LetsGoToBranson.com and the Missouri Stream Team, volunteers will be equipped with gloves and trash bags.
The largest need for the cleanup is boats to transport the volunteers to pick up trash. Lake Taneycomo has very little walkable shoreline so motor boats, canoes, or even kayaks are needed to help clean up the shoreline.
The event is on Saturday, September 13th, and it starts at 8:00am. Teams of volunteers will start from either Branson RV Campground OR Empire Park (Forsyth), work their way downstream (or upstream from Empire Park) and then return to the start locations for lunch. Volunteers can register online, www.trlwq.org, or call the Table Rock Lake Water Quality office at 417-739-4100.
There will also be an old TV and Electronics Recycling event at Empire Park in conjunction with the Taneycomo Lake Cleanup. Thanks to MO Solid Waste District N and Computer Recycling Center, 85 CRT televisions will be taken at no charge! CRT disposal cost is normally $20, so sign up on the website to reserve a spot!
